GTA 6 Locations: Every Confirmed City & Region (2026)
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Rockstar Games has officially confirmed six named regions for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), all set within the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar’s modern reimagining of Florida. Vice City anchors the map, with five surrounding regions giving the game its most geographically varied world yet. Rockstar has not put an official number on the map’s total size, though most community estimates put it at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA V’s map.

Key Takeaways
- Leonida is the state, Vice City is the main city inside it
- Six confirmed regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga
- Leonida draws directly from Florida: Vice City mirrors Miami, Grassrivers mirrors the Everglades, Leonida Keys mirrors the Florida Keys
- A neighboring state, Gloriana, is referenced through license plates and road signs but not confirmed as a playable area
- Rockstar’s own line describes Leonida as “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet”
Vice City
Vice City sits on the southeast coast of Leonida, inside Vice-Dale County, Rockstar’s version of Miami-Dade. Rockstar’s own promotional copy brands it “the sun and fun capital of America,” a line meant to capture the mix of tourist glamour and street-level hustle running through the whole city. Art Deco hotels, neon nightlife, a working cruise port, and neighborhoods like Little Cuba all appear in official material.

This is not the 2002 Vice City. It shares the name and the Miami inspiration, but it sits in a separate continuity built for current hardware, with a scale Rockstar has never attempted before.

Vice City also sits at the center of the story. It is where Lucia Caminos’s arc converges with Jason’s after her release from Leonida State Penitentiary, and where most of the trailer footage released so far actually takes place.

Leonida Keys
The Leonida Keys stretch across the southern islands of the state, Rockstar’s take on the real Florida Keys. Community mapping based on trailer footage places the chain running further east than early theories expected, connected by a string of bridges and causeways.
Jason Duval’s story starts here, working for local drug runners in the Keys before the plot pulls him toward Vice City.

Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn sits on Leonida’s west coast, and Rockstar describes it directly as “Leonida’s forgotten coast.” Once a tourism and trade hub inspired by Panama City, Florida, it is now defined by cheap motels, shuttered attractions, and empty strip malls. It runs its own local police force, a small detail that hints at how many separate jurisdictions the finished map will include.

Grassrivers
Grassrivers is Rockstar’s version of the Everglades, a subtropical wetland covering a large stretch of southern Leonida. Swamps, mangroves, slow rivers, and cypress forests define the terrain, and Rockstar has already shown airboats as a way to move through it.
It is also the game’s confirmed setting for hunting and wildlife encounters, alligators included. Community trailer analysis has also spotted references to a wildlife organization called POACH operating in the region, though Rockstar has not detailed its role in the story yet. Nothing else in the mainline series has looked like this.
Ambrosia
Ambrosia sits beside Lake Leonida, the large freshwater body near the center of the state. Rockstar frames it as rural and industrial: sugar refineries, biker culture, and old-school American grit rather than coastline or skyline. The Allied Crystal Sugar Mill anchors the area in community mapping built from official screenshots.

Mount Kalaga
Mount Kalaga National Park occupies Leonida’s northern border, and it is the closest thing GTA 6 has to Red Dead Redemption terrain. Forests, canyons, rivers, and hiking trails replace the coastline entirely here.

Confirmed: Mount Kalaga is one of Rockstar’s six officially named regions, shown in trailer footage and screenshots. Not confirmed: exactly how much of the park is explorable, or whether it hides any story content of its own. Rockstar has not detailed that yet.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many locations are in GTA 6?
Six regions are officially confirmed: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga. Only Vice City and Port Gellhorn are cities in the literal sense. The rest are a chain of islands, a wetland, a rural county, and a national park, all inside the state of Leonida.
Is Vice City the main city?
Yes. Every trailer and official description centers on Vice City, and Rockstar’s own reveal statement names it directly as the heart of the map.
Is Leonida based on Florida?
Yes, closely. Vice City mirrors Miami, Leonida Keys mirrors the Florida Keys, Grassrivers mirrors the Everglades, and Port Gellhorn draws from Panama City. Rockstar has built Leonida as a fictional but clearly Florida-inspired state.
What is Grassrivers?
A large wetland region south of the mainland, based on the Everglades. It features swamps, alligators, airboats, and hunting, giving GTA 6 a biome no earlier mainline game has had.
What is Port Gellhorn?
A declining west coast city once built on tourism, now known for cheap motels and shut-down attractions. Rockstar calls it Leonida’s forgotten coast.
What is Ambrosia?
A rural, sugar-industry county beside Lake Leonida, built around refineries and biker culture rather than city life.
Is Mount Kalaga explorable?
Yes, it is one of the six confirmed regions, but Rockstar has not detailed exactly how much of the park players can explore or what missions, if any, take place there.
Are there hidden locations?
Nothing officially confirmed. Leaked development files and trailer analysis point to a possible neighboring state, Gloriana, referenced only through license plates and road signs so far. Its existence inside the game’s universe seems real, but whether players can actually travel there is a separate question Rockstar has not answered. Treat it as unconfirmed until Rockstar says otherwise.
